These Saucy Sweet & Sour Chicken Wings are marinated in a classic blend of sugar, ketchup, vinegar, and seasonings before being baked until caramelized and glossy. The result is a delicious balance of sweetness and tanginess with a sticky glaze that makes these wings irresistible for parties, potlucks, and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Wings

12 chicken wings, separated

Sweet & Sour Marinade

½ cup water

¼ cup vegetable oil

¾ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup ketchup

¼ cup vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic salt

½ teaspoon instant chicken bouillon


Instructions

Prepare the Marinade

  1. Separate the chicken wings into flats and drumettes and remove the tips.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the water, oil, sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic salt, and chicken bouillon until combined.
  3. Place the wings into a large resealable bag.
  4. Pour the marinade over the wings.
  5. Seal the bag and turn several times to coat evenly.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours, turning occasionally.

Bake the Wings

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Remove the wings from the marinade and reserve the marinade.
  3. Arrange the wings on a broiler pan or wire rack set over a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes.
  5. Brush the wings with the reserved marinade every 15 minutes during baking.
  6. Continue baking until the wings are golden brown, glazed, and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Discard any remaining marinade.
  8. Transfer the wings to a serving platter and serve warm.
