These Ono Chicken Wings are a Hawaiian-inspired favorite featuring a sweet and savory marinade made with soy sauce, pineapple juice, garlic, ginger, beer, and brown sugar. Marinade

1 cup soy sauce

1 cup pineapple juice

1 garlic clove, finely minced

2 tablespoons onion, finely minced

7 ounces beer

¼ cup vegetable oil

Wings

5 pounds chicken wings, separated

Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish


Instructions

  1. Separate the chicken wings into flats and drumettes and remove the tips.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, pineapple juice, garlic, onion, ginger, brown sugar, beer, and vegetable oil.
  3. Whisk until the brown sugar dissolves completely.
  4. Place the wings into a large container or resealable bag.
  5. Pour the marinade over the wings, ensuring all pieces are covered.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Remove the wings from the marinade and reserve the marinade.
  8. Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  9. Brown the wings on all sides until golden.
  10. Add ½ cup of the reserved marinade.
  11. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low.
  12. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally.
  13. Add additional marinade as needed to keep the wings moist.
  14. Continue cooking until the wings are tender and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  15. Transfer to a serving platter or chafing dish.
  16. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
