DESCRIPTION

Inspired by the famous New Orleans dessert, this luxurious breakfast features buttery croissants soaked in vanilla custard and topped with warm caramelized bananas in a rich butter-rum sauce. Every bite is sweet, buttery, and bursting with classic Bananas Foster flavor.

INGREDIENTS

4 croissants or slices of bread

4 eggs

1 cup half-and-half

1 tsp vanilla

2 tbsps butter

2 bananas, sliced

¼ cup brown sugar

2 tbsps dark rum (optional)

½ tsp cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the custard by whisking together the eggs, half-and-half, and vanilla.
  2. Dip the croissants in the custard.
  3. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Melt the butter in a skillet.
  5. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Stir until bubbly.
  7. Add the bananas and cook for 2 minutes.
  8. Stir in the rum, if using.
  9. Spoon the bananas and sauce over the French toast.
